A CUP-HILT RAPIER, 17TH/18TH CENTURY

with slender blade formed with a pair of short fullers on each face, iron hilt including cup-guard decorated with a large scallop design front and back, the sides pierced with looped openwork, a pair of straight quillons with moulded terminals, knuckle-guard en suite, and associated pommel (guardapolvo and screws missing), and wire-bound grip between iron collars, 95.0 cm blade
