AN INDIAN DAGGER (KATAR), 18TH CENTURY with tapering blade formed with a reinforced point and a medial ridge dividing two pairs of broad panels on each face at the forte, the latter chiselled with figures and elephants on each face (rubbed, later etched in imitation of watering), later iron hilt incorporating a chain-shaped grip bar, in a fabric-covered wooden scabbard 22.5 cm; 8 7/8 in blade
