with triangular blade formed with a reinforced point and a series of converging fullers, the central panel divided by a pair of ridges chiselled with foliage and with a gilt flowerhead at the forte (rubbed), iron hilt chiselled in low relief with figures and beasts from mythology in small panels on each side divided by fluted panels, a pair of faceted grip bars pierced and chiselled with further beasts, and an additional panel behind the forte decorated en suite, in a later leather-covered wooden scabbard
