A COMPOSITE EXPANDING LEFT-HAND DAGGER, 17TH CENTURY AND LATER with slender central blade of rectangular section, the sides fitted with a pair of spring-prongs released by a sliding catch on the inner face of the ricasso, iron hilt comprising a pair of straight quillons with pierced bulbous terminals, up-turned guard pierced with a design of scrolling foliage and flowers enclosed by slender rounded bars, later pommel and turned bone grip 29.0 cm; 11 1/2 in blade
