Our department includes a very wide range of objects from the Islamic world, the Indian subcontinent, the Himalayan region and South-East Asia.
From the Islamic world, we accept consignments of metalwork, ceramics, textiles and paintings originating from Morocco in the west, through the Middle East, Persia and Central Asia to muslim China and Indonesia in the East. Objects range in date from the early centuries of Islam to the early 20th century.
We also sell paintings, textiles, bronzes, metalwork and sculpture representative of the richly varied styles of the Indian subcontinent, from early Buddhist and Jain art to Mughal and European-influenced works of art of the colonial era. Further to the North, the Himalayan lands of Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan are represented by bronzes, Buddhist scroll paintings and ritual objects.
From South-East Asia, as well as Islamic art, our auctions include Khmer, Thai and Javanese sculpture, ceramics and bronzes, textiles from the Indonesian islands, lacquerware and Buddhist manuscripts and paintings.
