Consider Plaquettes. A neglected art form takes centre stage at Olympia sales this month

Plaquettes are small scale reliefs cast in bronze and other metals, fashionable among European collectors for 100 years or more from the mid 15th century.  Huon Mallalieu writes about the highlights from the Bernard Kelly plaquette collection sold by Matthew Barton with many images displayed, also the 16th century parade cuirass overlaid with gilt brass embossed with classical and Biblical figures and motifs, sold a month later by Thomas Del Mar.
