Exhibition: Mel Calman on Love, Rage and Neurosis 19th February – 1st March 2024

19TH FEBRUARY - 1ST MARCH 2024

Over 100 works by well-known cartoonist Mel Calman (1931 - 1994) will be on view for two weeks accompanied by an online auction

Mel Calman was a British cartoonist best known for his "little man" cartoons published in British newspapers including the Daily Express (1957–63), The Sunday Telegraph (1964–65), The Observer (1965-6), The Sunday Times (1969–84) and The Times (1979–94).

Thirty years since his death the exhibition will show over 100 of his works, including many drawings that have never been seen before. Calman was above all 'interested in the gap between what people say and what they think' and his infectious humour and wry musings on the human condition brought much amusement every morning.

An online auction will accompany the exhibition opening on 16th February and closing on 3rd March 2024

An In Conversation between Mel Calman's daughters, Stephanie and Claire Calman both of whom are writers chaired by Libby Purves OBE will take place on Wednesday 28th February 2024.  Doors open at 6pm and the In Conversation starts at 7pm lasting 45mins- 1 hour.
