of regulation pattern, with bright slender tapering fullered blade (some minor surface rust), the forte etched ‘I.’ within a foliate cartouche above the maker’s details on one side, and with octagonal gilt maker’s proof mark within an etched star on the other, nickel-plated bowl guard (old rust patination on the inside) chased with crowned foliated ‘RHG’ monogram and pierced for the leather sword-knot, and chequered pommel and composition grip, the latter hollowed for the thumb, in its brown leather-covered field service scabbard, 89.5 cm blade
