Lucius Gahagan was a member of the Gahagan family of sculptors based in London, who settled in Bath in 1820. On his trade card he advertised: "Sculpture. The Nobility and Gentry are most respectfully informed, that the only Bust to which His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of all the Russias, ever condescended to sit, is on View at the Sculptor's Study, 12, Ceveland Street ... L. Gahagan will attend from Twelve... May 15, 1815."
