‡ A RARE DANISH MODEL 1831 JUNIOR OFFICER’S SWORD WITH SIDE BAYONET, REIGN OF FREDERICK VI (1803-1839)
of regulation pattern, with bright fullered blade, copper alloy hilt stamped ‘6.L.B4.C.N.13’ and inspector’s initials ‘BGC’ in an oval on the underside, and comprising scrolled side-bar with two bars above joined to the stirrup-shaped knuckle-guard, the latter joined to the pommel-cap made in one with the back-piece and ribbed grip, rear quillon with acorn-shaped terminal and retaining a fabric sword-knot, in its black leather scabbard incorporating a side scabbard for the bayonet, with linear engraved copper alloy locket and chape, the former with frog-button and stamped ‘K:RJCH24’ on one side, the bayonet with blade of hollowed triangular section and stamped ‘1831-54’, the mount stamped ‘D’ over ‘O.1’, 76.5 cm and 57.5 cm blades
