The inscription reads: Presented by H.M. Ambassador and Staff of the Embassy and Colleagues at H.M. Consulate-General Yokohama and H.M. Consulate Tokyo, 10th February 1926.
Provenance: given as a wedding present to Mr and Mrs Bernard Flynn by fellow members of the British Diplomatic corps in Japan in 1926; thence by family descent to the vendor.
Miyamoto-Shoko Co. Ltd. was founded by Masaru Miyamoto in Tokyo in 1880, becoming a purveyor to the Imperial Household in 1899, and still with premises in the city's Ginza district to this day.
