with slightly curved blade (some old pitting particularly at the point) fullered along the back on each side to the double-edged point, hilt comprising knuckle and side-bars each with double central swelling, linked by diagonal bars and joined to the copper alloy pommel, the latter roughly cast as a stylised lion-head, asymmetrical side-guards each filled by a plate pierced with numerous small holes, inner thumb-ring, down-bent rear quillon with bud-shaped terminal and grip bound with copper alloy wire and cord (old repairs), 72.2 cm blade
