A FRENCH ANXI CUIRASSIER’S SWORD, 20TH CENTURY, BEARING INSCRIPTION DATED 1813

of regulation pattern, with tapering fullered blade (some light pitting) etched with dated Klingenthal manufactory details along the back of the forte, the latter struck with two inspector’s marks on one side, copper-alloy hilt of three bars swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, the latter stamped with three inspector’s marks and ‘4971’, copper-alloy pommel-cap, and leather-covered grip bound with a strand of twisted copper wire, 96.8 cm blade
