of cast-iron retaining some of its silvering, the broad tapering spike with medial ridge on both sides, crescentic axe-blade and beak-shaped fluke each with a scroll at the rear at the top and bottom, the former pierced with a fleur-de-lys, the latter with an ‘L’, central sun-in-splendour on both sides, and tapering circular socket with side-straps, on wooden haft of circular section with copper-alloy shoe, 56.5 cm head
