AN INDIAN KULAH-KHUD AND SHIELD, 19TH CENTURY

the first with hemispherical skull fitted at its apex with a dome for a spike (missing), a pair of plume-holder at the front with slender nasal bar with shaped terminals between, decorated over its surface with chiselled designs of foliage and flowers enriched with gold, and the base pierced for a mail neck-defence (missing); the second of convex form with reinforced brim, fitted with four low iron domed bosses on the outer face corresponding with rings for enarmes on the inside, chiselled and engraved over the outer surface with an elaborate processional scene enriched with gold koftgari, the first: 18.5 cm high (2)
