Maurice Guiraud-Rivière, well known for his Art Deco figures, as well as car mascots and humourist illustrations, produced models for Sèvres between 1911-23. The French state acquired a bronze cast of 'Le Casse-Croute' direct from the artist in 1915 (Inv.FNAC 2766). It seems Sèvres re-issued the biscuit model in 1919, see versions preserved by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, Inv.195-9 and another at the Musée National de Céramique, Sèvres, Inv.17242.
