A TURKISH SHAMSHIR, PROBABLY REIGN OF ABDULAZIZ (1277-93 AH CORRESPONDING TO 1861-76 AD)

with curved single-edged blade (extreme tip slightly re-shaped) of dull grey watered steel, hilt retaining its copper alloy quillon-block only with pointed langets and bud-shaped quillon terminals, in original wooden scabbard covered in black leather with copper alloy wire seam along the inside, deep copper alloy locket and chape (old denting, the former missing its langet mounts), and shaped suspension mounts each with suspension ring, 76.5 cm blade
