A BRONZE FIGURE OF 'CROUCHING VENUS', AFTER THE ANTIQUE, PROBABLY ITALIAN, 19TH CENTURY

with mid to dark brown patination, the nude figure with armbands and perched on a shell, naturalistic ground to the rectangular plinth base with cut corners, 31cm high

After the marble Crouching Venus in the Uffizi, Florence, identifiable from the large number of antique variants by the two armbands and being seated on a shell. The statue was first recorded in 1704 at the Villa Medici in Rome and was taken to Florence in 1787.
