TWO MULTAN DISHES, PUNJAB, INDIA (NOW PAKISTAN), CIRCA 1900

underglaze painted earthenware, each of shallow concave circular form on ring foot, painted with central inscribed cartouche surrounded by scrolling floral designs, 39cm, 31cm diam.

The inscription on the larger dish has been translated 'the wealth which is good will be used for one's own benefit'; the smaller smaller dish reads 'khusamadeed' (welcome to all!).
