AN ARABIC OR YEMENI JAMBIYA, 19TH CENTURY

with brightly polished curved double-edged blade with medial ridge along both sides, and waisted silver hilt decorated with applied beadwork and roundels (one missing at the pommel), in its leather-backed silver scabbard with borders of beadwork at the locket, pricked Arabic inscription, pierced and chased double borders, elaborate bud-shaped finial, and chased suspension mounts with three fixed rings on either side, 20.0 cm blade
