A BRITISH CONSTABLE’S SWORD, REIGN OF VICTORIA (1837-1901)

with bright very slightly curved blade (minor old rust patination) double-edged at the point of flattened diamond section and stamped ‘WILKINSON’ on one side at the forte, the other side etched with a ‘W’ within a foliate frame, copper alloy hilt comprising bowled guard rising up to form the knuckle-guard, the latter linked to the pommel and back-piece in one, lobed rear quillon, and ribbed leather-covered grip bound with the remains of a strand of copper alloy wire, in its leather scabbard (worn and scuffed, chape missing) with copper alloy locket with frog button and retaining its leather frog (in poor condition), 63.0 cm blade
